A Friend told me a Teacher had a MacBook Pro, no charger or hard drive.
I Sprinted (jumping while sprinting makes you go faster) to the Teachers room and get it.
Now i have a MacBook, Fast Forward to CS class, and i take it apart.
from the looks of it, it looks fine, battery intact (no swelling, and off-brand) and it has 8GB DDR3. and the mounting bracket for the hard drive is left.
The Right Arrow key is missing and the N key has a stain on it.
fast forward to when i get home, and i get my dad to order a ssd and charger.
a few days later, it arrives. i got a magsafe 2 charger, not a magsafe 1... so i get a USB-C to magsafe 2 dongle that KtecK recommends.
it arrives, and it boots (to a gray screen)
holding Command while booting, gets me to the 'boot picker'
i load up my macOS VM of High Sierra and create the USB Stick of macOS High Sierra (did catalina at first thinking it was a mid 2012 model)
this is when i was creating 'Mojave' (didn't have photo of creating High Sierra) but... same thing.
booting from the USB stick took so looooooooooooooooooooooooong, but i got it to boot.
after formatting the ssd, i was able to get the install going.
with a dead battery, the cpu speed is massively underclocked so the computer wont randomily shutoff when the computer uses more power then the AC can output.
it was at this for a couple hours... it did NOT take 8 minutes. more like, a couple hours.
after a few hours (at like 20:58 24hr time), i was able to get to the OOBE and complete setup.
its a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) or a MacBookPro8,1
the battery has 0 MaH too.. (its awfully slow)
takes about 35 seconds to boot (stopwatch started when apple boot chime plays), but in the OS its verrrry unusable.
all this mac needs now is a battery replacement, also the backlight isnt bright in some areas
there has to be a way to fix the underclocked cpu when theres no battery
thats all i have, for now. bye.
